Financial Accounting Financial Framework Assistant

Question: Describe about the Financial Accounting for Financial Framework Assistant. Answer: 1. The Framework for Preparation and Presentation of Financial Statements assists the preparer in applying the Accounting Standards on preparation of financial statement. The Para 5, states that the different element of the financial statement is defined in the Framework. It also deals with the measurement and recognition of various items of financial statement (Macve 2015). In the given case the treatments of various items in the financial statement of Queenslander Ltd is discussed based on the AASB conceptual Framework. a) The Para 60, of the Framework states that the present obligation is an important characteristic of liability. The obligation is defined as a duty or liability that is enforceable by law. The Para 61, of the Framework states that it is required to make a distinction between the obligation and commitment. In the Para 91 of the Framework it is provided that the liability should be recognized when it is certain that the outflow of economic resources will be necessary in settling the present obligation (Henderson et al. 2015). Therefore, commitment should not be recognized as liability as there is no present obligation. In the given case, Queenslander ltd has provided guarantee for bank loan on behalf of an employee and it is expected that the employee will make default in payment of loan. As the employee has not yet defaulted in making payment so, it is still a commitment and no present obligation has arisen. Therefore, it can be concluded that it is not required to be recognized in t he financial statement of the Queenslanders Ltd. However within the meaning of contingent liability as provided in Para 10 of the AASB 137 the possible obligation should be disclosed in the financial statement in the form of note as provided in the Para 86 of the same standard. b) In the Para 53 of the Framework it is stated that an assets provides future economic benefit that flows to the enterprise. In Para 59 of the Framework it is stated that there is a close relationship between generating assets and incurring but they do not generally coincidences. Therefore, in the absence of expenditure an item should be recognized as an asset if it fulfills the definition of the assets. In the Para 89 of the Framework it is stated that if it is probable that the future economic benefit will flow to the eEnterprise then it should be recognized as assets (Weil et al. 2013). In the given case Queenslanders has received a gift of 500 shares from the customer and as the shares can be sold at market price, so economic benefit is probable to the enterprise. Therefore, it can be concluded that shares should be recognized as assets in the financial statement at the current market price. c) The Para 99 of the Framework states that the process of determining the monetary amount for the items to be recognized in the financial statement is known as measurement. The Para 100 of the Framework provides the basis on which the items of financial statements are measured and this are Historical costs, current cost, realizable value and the present value. Therefore, it implies that if an item cannot be measured in any of the basis stated in Para 100 then the item cannot be recognized in the financial statement (Zhang and Andrew 2014). In the given case, the company directors view that certain view attracts customers is a non-financial item and cannot be recognized in the financial statement.2. The AASB 116 is applicable for the accounting of plant, equipments and property as per Para 2 of the standard. The Para 6, of the standard states that Property, Plant and Equipments include all the tangible assets that are held by the entity for using it for more than one year. The recogn ition criteria is provided in Para 7 of the standard. If a Property, Plant and Equipment is qualifies for recording as an asset then the assets should be calculated at cost as per Para 15 of the standard. After the asset is initially recognized then as per Para, 29 of the standard the entity can follow the cost model or revaluation model as the accounting policy (Rahman 2013). In the Para 31 of the standard it is stated that if reliably the fair value of the asset is measureable then after recognition an asset can be carried at amount that is revalued. The amount with which the assets is to be carried is calculated after reducing the accumulated depreciation form the revalued amount of the asset (Brown et al. 2014). It is provided in the Para 50 of the standard that the depreciable amount of the asset is to be distributed over the useful life of the assets on a systematic basis. It is clearly provided in Para 52 of the AASB 116 that depreciation should be provided even though the fa ir value is more than the amount with which the asset is carried. The same Para also states that if the carrying amount of the assets is less than the residual then there is no requirement to recognize depreciation. In the given case Many ltd has decided to adopt the revaluation model for measuring its machinery. It was found the during the current period the value of the machinery has increased so it was argued by the directors not to provide depreciation on machinery. On the basis of the above analysis of AASB 116 it can be concluded that as per Para 52 of the standard the company is required to recognize depreciation. Therefore, the board should not adopt the directors advice of not recognizing depreciation. 3. The Para 8, of the AASB 138 states that assets are resources that are owned and managed by the entity and from this, it is likely that the entity will derive benefits of economic nature in future. The identifiable non-monetary asset that does not have physical substance is known as Intangible Assets. In Para 9 of the standard it is provided that few of the common examples of intangible assets are computer software, copy rights, patents, customer lists, franchise etc. The Para 10 of the standard provides that if any of the items does not fit into the definition of intangible assets then the expenses incurred for generating it internally or acquiring from outside should be recognized as an expenses (Wang 2014). The expenses should be recognized when it is incurred. It is provided in Para 11 of the standard the intangible asset should be identifiable and distinct from the goodwill. In Para 16 of the AASB 138 it is provided that an entity can gather by its efforts the portfolio of cus tomers or market share. If there is no legal rights then the entity is not in control over the expected future economic benefit from the relationship with the customer therefore the definition of the intangible assets is not satisfied. In the given case, Sharks Ltd incurred expenses in generating mailing list for the customer. The company also acquired a mailing list form its competitor. Further, the company has also capitalized the marketing cost as noncurrent assets. From the analysis of the AASB 138 it can be suggested that as per Para 16 as the company does not have any control over the future economic benefit (Chua et al. 2012). Therefore the company should not recognize the expenses as intangible assets and should be recognized as expenses in the year it is incurred as per Para 10 of the AASB 138. The company should recognize the marketing expenses and the current profit of the company should be $10 million. 4. The Para 10 of the AASB 137 provides the definition of contingent liability. Contingent liability is defined as probable obligations that arise from the past event and will be established by the occurrence and non-occurrence of future uncertain events (Horngren et al. 2012). The present obligations is also included in the definition of contingent liability but is not recognized, as the steady flow of resources will not be necessary to pay the present obligation or the amount that is required to settle the obligation is not been able to be estimated reliably. As per Para 27 of the standard a contingent should not be recognized but a disclosure is necessary to be provided in the financial statement (Parker 2013). In the given case at the time of issue of financial statement, it was not probable that the Bird Ltd would lose the case and economic resources will be necessary to settle the obligation. As a result, based on the analysis of AASB137 it can be concluded that, as the legal d amage is not probable as on 30 June 2017 so the company is not required to recognize it as liability but is necessary to be treated as contingent liability and a disclosure is required in the financial statement. The Para 10 of the AASB 137 states that liability is a present obligation that arise from events of the past and it is possible that the resources embodying economic benefit will be necessary to settle the obligation (Horngren et al. 2012). The provision is recognized for liability of uncertain timing. In the given case after two weeks of publishing the financial statement, the lawyer of the company finds that it is probable that the company will lose the legal case and the outflow of resources will be required to settle the obligation. There is no present obligation it is only a possibility that the company will lose the case. Therefore, it can be concluded that it is not a liability but a contingent liability. 8 Fun SAT Test Facts to Give You a Break from Studying

8 Fun SAT Test Facts to Give You a Break from Studying SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Unfortunately, studying for the SAT isn’t much fun. There’s really no way to make reading passages or dissecting math problems super entertaining - and believe me, I’ve tried. But if you’re looking for a quick break from studying, check out these 8 random SAT test facts. You may even learn something helpful! Fact #1: SAT doesn’t actually stand for anything SAT originally stood for Scholastic Aptitude Test. But after the idea that the SAT tested "aptitude"became too controversial, the namewas changed to the Scholastic Assessment Test. Of course, "assessment" and "test" are spectacularly redundant, so in 1997 the College Board got fed up with the whole namingfiascoand decided that the SAT was now just the name of the test, not an abbreviation of something else. Fact #2: The College Board once canceledthe test for an entire country The College Board takes cheating veryseriously. In 2013, ETS, which administers the SAT, found out that tutoring companies in South Korea had conspired to obtain the test in advance, so theycanceledthe May test date entirely. Similarly, when a group of Long Island teens were caught paying college students to take the test for them they faced harsh consequences: criminal charges. Seoul, South Korea, where some unlucky students had their SAT canceled. Fact #3: There's a play about SAT tutoring Jenny Lyn Bader’s play None of the Above is all about the relationship between a trouble-makingteenager and her SAT tutor. I suspect the play issomewhat more dramatic than reality, soif you have questions about tutoring I'd recommendtaking a look at our guide instead. Fact #4: The scale on the original College Board test wasbrutal The College Board actually predates the SAT. It was founded in 1901 to administercollege specific tests, which were gradedas Excellent, Good, Doubtful, Poor, or Very Poor. That system may have beenless confusing than the current scale, but it also sounds kind ofharsh! Fact #5: Someone wrote an SAT vocabnovel about vampires There’s an entire genre of novels specifically designed to help you learn vocab words for the SAT, and they sound completely bizarre.Test of Time investigates what would happen if Mark Twain's manuscript forHuckleberry Finn was swapped with a modern day college student's laptop.Vampire Dreams is basicallyTwilight without the whole glittering in the sun thing. The reviews from students aren't kind, so I would recommend sticking to regularnovels with high level vocab words. You're probably better off just readingDracula.(Len "Doc" Radin/Flickr) Fact #6: Stanley H. Kaplan started the first SAT test prep company in 1938 When he startedtutoring college-bound students in his basement in Brooklyn, Kaplancharged $128 per student. Despite considerable demand, he didn'texpand outside of New York until the 1970s. Fact #7: The SAT started out asa military IQ test Before it was used for college admissions, an early version of the SAT wasused by the army to screen recruits during World War I. The first SAT, which was given in 1926, wasalso much, much more difficult than today’s version. Itincludedsections in which the test takerhad to translate sentences into a made-up language, judge whetherpropositions were perfectly logical, and complete baffling analogies. I don’t know about you, but I can’t make heads or tails of these analogies. Fact #8:George W. Bush used the SAT as part of his presidential campaign No, he didn't touthis own scores- those weren't particularly impressive. Instead, he bragged about the 100 point increase in Texas students’ SAT scores during his term as governor. Unfortunately, that increase had nothing to do with improvements in education: it was actually caused by the College Board rescaling the test in 1995. What's Next? Terrorism Causes, Motivations and Reccomendations Essay

Terrorism Causes, Motivations and Reccomendations - Essay Example 81). Terrorist entails any plan to raise unnecessary fears and exert economic social and economic control. Being a global issue, the understanding of the main motivators and causes of the attack is critical and necessary as it can help in offering an effective solution to the problem. Therefore, the attack in Floola can be squarely associated with existing cordial relationship of Floola with United States of America as well as wayward individual beliefs and religious extremism. Moreover, adequate understanding of individual, groups/ national issues as well as international stages can aid in reducing the ever increasing terrorism impacts. Terrorism: Causes and Motivations In the analysis of terrorist attacks in Floola, it is complex to draw a line between the causes, motivations, and reasons behind these attacks. The four facets of terrorism are intertwined and it may be hard to distinguish. The motivations and causes of terrorist attacks in Floola can be studied in three main stages, international, national or group level as well as individual level (Yaqub, 2005, p. 67). Individual Causes Referring to the theory of frustration-aggression, terrorist aggressions are driven by the existing discrepancies between human demands and fulfillment of the demands. In most cases, terrorist groups address their unfulfilled demands through such activities as physical and psychological violence. The attack in Floola may be influenced by a need to fulfill unmet needs and for identity purposes. Conventionally, terrorists are absolutely loyal to their sponsoring networks and willing to commit crimes of any nature to protect their religion, language, native homeland, and group membership. Mostly, families affiliated to terrorist networks are held hostage to affirm their commitment to the group. Therefore, the attack in Floola can as well be associated with an attempt to protect the Muslim religion in the country. Additionally, terrorist group leaders are often driven by extremist political ambitions. A good number of terrorists or terrorism sponsors have made prosperous transition from terrorist group leaders to political leaders. These leaders are well educated and have prosperous families and intra-global investments networks. As a result, these leaders may have used their political powers, flourishing business connections and intelligence to motivate terrorist attack in Floola. National or Group Level Terrorism Specified groups, national institutions and social systems play a critical role in provoking terrorist activities. Frustrations caused by increasing basic need deprivations at individual level can lead to creation of criminal organizations (Shchedrovitsky, 2005, p. 89). The emergence of modern terrorist attacks can historically be likened to the emergence of liberal states. This is due to the fact that, most of the anarchist terrorists are mostly associated with â€Å"Propaganda of the Deed†. Terrorism in Floola can be taken as advocacy act ivities for propagating anarchist message to the general public by creating terror on the people and the government to create a socio-political insecurity in the country. Religious beliefs also play an exceptionally essential role in the promotion, motivation, legitimization and increasing the intensity of criminal activities in the world. In the case of Floola, religious beliefs may have contributed and legitimized the attack through imposition of religious ideologies,

Animation Critique - Essay Example Utilization of animatronics is expected to fade off in the next ten years in the entertainment industry. Film producers have been adopting several new mechanisms of public entertainment (Abbott, pg. 252). They are creating a realistic interaction of the imaginative objects and people. Engineers are improving the technology day by day, to suit the diverse and rapidly changing needs of the target populations. A revolution is expected to happen as the machines become sophisticated day by day. Essentially, scientists are even coming up with a mechanism where such robots will even be in a position to think and act just as human beings do (Schell, pg. 97). The e-robots will have an instinct ability that will reason just as human beings. It will be in a position to detect human emotions such as sadness or happiness. Out of detecting the human emotional happiness, the machine will act to improve the human mood. It will further create a close connection with the human beings (Peltoniemi, pg. 350). Additionally, toy robots are becoming of great use among the children, who are discarding the traditional toys. In essence, machines are replacing all the functions in all sectors. Therefore, extreme changes are expected with reference to the animatronics use in

The Jump :: First Person Narrative Examples

Anxiety took over my body as I prepared to jump. The 80 foot waterfall looming atop Turner Falls seemed to be challenging me, beckoning me to come and attempt to plunge from the rock into the waterfall to try to endure the pressure as the water knocked me straight down into the deep waters and jagged rocks which awaited below. I waited with an eager excitement thinking that if I could take this plunge, I would really be able to swim with those I saw as the "big fish." Waiting on that rock I had no idea that the events following my wait would change that jump from being something I so much desired into something I would be grateful to never personally experience. Ahead of me in line were two brothers, one 14 years old and the other 17. They were both tall and thin with caramel colored skin. They had wiry black hair and dark brown eyes and continually chattered back and forth to each other and their many other brothers and sisters in Spanish. With an inability to swim, the brothers jumped in with nothing to aid them but faith that the waters would push them out into shallow safety. The two went under and a fanatic frenzy broke out when random bystanders watching on the sides realized that the boys were not coming up. The lifeguards began frantically blowing their whistles and screaming at everyone, "Get out of the water! Everybody! Out! Now!" With no knowledge of the severity of what was going on, I was almost in a state of confusion as I looked to the side and saw my mother screaming at me to get off the rock. Needless to say, I went to my mother and within seconds the water was empty, except for the two boys who lay below the surface. One brother was retrieved from the water in only a few moments, not smooth and with ease, as I expected from what I'd seen on television, but with severe difficulty, as if he was 1000 pounds of dead weight. The other was nowhere to be found. In a desperate search, the breathless and scared lifeguards came over to the crowd, which had formed aside the water. "Do we have any divers in the crowd? Please? Anybody with any experience at all please we need your help." After over 15 minutes of searching and scrambling, finally the second brother was pulled from the water from a spot directly under the waterfall, 19 feet beneath the surface.

A Separate Peace Themes

A Separate Peace by John Knowles concerns itself about a young adult named Gene who decides to visit his old school Devon years after the war and recollects his memories of his friend, Phonies. Most of the story is a flashback about the hardships Gene and Phonies had to face growing up in high school during a war. During this flashback, Gene grows through the phase where he must let go of his childhood and mature to adulthood. Throughout the book, Phonies symbolizes childhood and innocence, revealing the main theme of the book: innocence versus maturity.Gene's Journey through his years at Devon shows how he matures and gains a bigger understanding of the world around him. At the beginning of the book, both Gene and Phonies were childish at the beginning of the book. For example, Phonies would wear pink clothing and a school tie as a belt to a headmaster's gathering. â€Å"In his haste that morning Finny had not unexpected used a tie for a belt. But this morning the tie at hand had b een the Devon School tie† (20). This shows a level of disrespect of self-image and school-image that usually rash, young children have.Phonies even believes that the war is Just a scam made up by adults to get a profit. There's the bad, there's the good; Just pure black and white. He was even able to rationalize this illogical belief to Gene, and Gene easily gives in. Just like how a child sticks to her favorite blanket or comforting teddy bear to protect her from the nasty in life, Phonies is Gene's way of clinging on to a more immature view to explain life simply. As Gene begins to mature through his years at Devon, he loses Phonies for a while as Phonies recovers from his leg injury. This opens the door to Gene as he sees a new view point on life. He has a sense of guilt that he was the one who trounced Phonies out of the tree, but cannot explain his actions. This new sense of guilt make question if he is truly evil or still innocent. It raises the question that there may be something more than Just cruelly evil or purely good that Phonies seemed to believe earlier. However, Phonies, symbolizing Gene's childhood, tries to pull Gene back to a world of innocence with winter carnivals and games – games where there are no losers and everyone wins.Affected by Phonies' tempting simple ideals, Gene finds himself hard to let go of the innocent outlook on life. Still, this prodding question further develops when Gene meets Leper after the effects of the war. â€Å"The army has the perfect word for everything, did you ever think of that? †¦ And the perfect word for me†¦ Psycho. I guess I am. I must be. Am I though, or is the army? Because they turned everything inside out† (141 , 149). This quote summarizes the scene when Gene learns about harsh cruelties of war, and begins to realize that the world is bitterer than he had originally thought.Human beings can be evil. This completely transforms his original innocent view on the world. At t he end of the novel, when Gene is of age to be recruited into the war, Gene has learned much about the harsh truth of reality. He begins to move into an acceptance state. When Phonies realizes that it was Gene who had originally trounced the branch, Gene is able to explain that there are certain evils, certain impulses that earlier in the novel. â€Å"No, I don't know how to show you, how can I show you, Finny? Tell me how to show you.It was Just some ignorance inside me, some crazy thing inside me, something blind, that's all it was† (191). Gene accepts that humans are neither fully good nor evil, but normal beings with natural impulses. Knowles shows throughout the book that as one ages and matures, one must lose that innocent childish mentality. Gene slowly pulls apart from Phonies' ideals and moves onto a more complex understanding of human behavior. However, as Gene reaches young adulthood, Knowles cleverly has Phonies pass away, as only to show that in order for Gene to fully mature and reach adulthood, the innocent childhood must completely disappear. Did not cry then or ever about Finny†¦. ‘ could not escape a felling that this was my own funeral, and you do not cry in that case† (186) The quote even shows that Gene feels that Phonies was part of himself. This is referring to the naive childhood part of Gene. Knowles consistently expresses the theme of innocence versus maturity. He tells us that in order to achieve maturity and achieve the fuller, complex view on life, one has to lose the innocent outlook that usually the young has. Gene moved from a young naive child to a developed young adult.

The Relationship Between Personality Types And Learning...

Adi Dina Mrs. Gunby IB Math SL Period 0 21 November 2014 The Relationship Between Personality Types and Learning Styles In this paper, we will investigate the relationship between the personality types of students and their learning styles. I have surveyed a total of 68 students at Agoura High School using the personality test based on Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs Myers’ personality theories and Kolb’s theory of learning styles. I decided to conduct this research in order to help people understand their personalities better, and so that they can get the most out of their learning experiences. Prior to conducting this research, I hypothesized combinations of personality types and learning styles that would share a relationship. In this study, I will examine the relationship of the two. Through learning the personality types of my classmates, I will discover a lot about them and have the ability to understand them better. Once figuring out the relationship between the personality types and learning styles, I will share the results with the students who I have surveyed. By doing this, I will inform students on how to apply their personality type to their learning style in order to excel in all learning experiences. To begin, I will address Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers’ theory on personality types.
